Over 25 passengers hurt after ST bus falls into river on Warud-Ngp highway
Nagpur: About 25 to 30 passengers sustained injuries after a State Transport (ST) bus fell into river from bridge after it was hit by a tractor. The accident took place on Warud-Nagpur National Highway in Warud tehsil on Sunday evening. According to information, the MSRTC bus(MH-40/AQ-6056)of Katol bus depot was heading towards Warud on Sunday evening.
At around 7 pm, when the bus reached near Dhaga village on Nagpur-Warud highway, a rashly driven tractor hit the bus. So strong was the impact of dash that the ST bus broke the barricades of bridge and it fell into Sadavarti river.
About 25 to 30passengers and a tractor driver were injured in the accident. The injured were rushed to Amner Health Centre, RuralHospitalandAmravati.The names of injured passengers could not be ascertained till filling of this report.
Police personnel including Shreenik Lodha, Police Inspector reached the spot. Jeevan Wankhade, Chief of MSRTC Warud depot also reached the spot.
MLA Devendra Bhuyar along with other activists visited the spot and rushed the injured persons to hospital. Financial assistance was given to the injured passengers on behalf of MSRTC.
