Crime Branch team seize scented tobacco worth Rs 2.50 lakh
Nagpur: Unit No 4 of Crime Branch arrested two persons and seized banned scented tobacco collectivelly worth Rs 2.50 lakh from their possession. The accused have been identified as Ganesh Meghshyam Mohadikar (42), a resident of Plot No 89, Deshpande Layout, Nandanvan and owner of Vijay Grocery shop, near Hanuman temple, Jaripatka.
Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped a Alpha Plus threewheeler (MH-49/AT-5863) near Anjuman Polytechnic College and seized 1,137 packets of Rajashree Pan Masala and 1,080 packets of Black Lable tobacco collectivelly worth Rs 2.45 lakh. Driver Mohadikar was also arrested during the action. During interrogation, Mohadikar told the police that he was going to deliver the consignment at Vijay Grocery Shop. Officials of Food and Drung Administration (FDA) were also called by the police.
An offence was registered against the accused at Sadar Police Station on the basis of complaint given by FDA officials.
The action was done by Police Inspector Ashok Meshram, APIsVijay Kasodhan, Omprakash Sontakke, ASI Ramesh Umathe and staff including Ravindra Panbude, Devendra Chavan, Baban Raut, Yuvanand Kadu, Ashish Kshirsagar, Dipakkumar Chole, Satish Thakre, Liladhar Bhendarkar, FDA’s Amitkumar Uplap and others.
