Booty worth Rs 32.70 lakh stolen from builder’s house in Hingna

Nagpur: Gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 32.70 lakh were stolen from a builder’s house at Vrindavan City under the jurisdiction of Hingna Police Station. The investigators are suspecting involvement of a servant in the theft. CCTV footage is being scanned by the police to get some clue.

According to police, builder Rajesh Navranglal Agrawal (51), a resident of House No. B 4/5, Vasudeo,Vrindavan City, Jamtha, had gone to a relative’s place with family members on Tuesday.

Marriage of his daughter was fixed recently. The family returned home on Wednesday. The theft came to light on Thursday at 1.30 am. Agrawal family has employed about ten servants associated with housekeeping, including security guards. The bungalow also has CCTV cameras installed. Everyone who enters the bungalow has to write his name in the entry book. Despite all the security arrangements, when the members of the Agarwal family were not in the house, a servant grabbed the opportunity and decamped with Rs 4.5 lakh in cash, gold and diamond ornaments from the locker.

After receiving an information, staff of Hingna Police rushed to the spot and started investigations. Finger print experts and Dog squads were also summoned for the investigation. The police have questioned all servants and suspecting involvement of one of them in the theft. However, the cops are yet to identify the culprit involved in the crime.

“The crime was committed by a servant. As it is not possible for any outsider to steal anything from the house with such a strong security system. CCTV cameras are being searched in search of the accused,” the official said. An offence under Sections 381 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Hingna police.
