Srinivas, Naga Jothi win online carrom tournament
Former World Cup Champion K. Srinivas and Naga Jothi finally won the World Online Challenge by showing extra ordinary stuff in the final.
From round 1 Srinivas shown his intentions very clear by scoring an Ultimate Slam with two black
slams in given 8 boards. In an event like this maintaining the top position in cumulative points tally was most tough job when Current World Champion and 2 former World Champions are co players.
In final Srinivas scored one white slam and 4 black slams in given 8 boards and reduced his net points to only 4 which is the best score in the entire event. The earlier best two scores were also registered in the name of K. Srinivas in 1 st Round with 7 net points and in 2nd Round 8 net points. The maximum 2 Ultimate Slams also belong to K. Srinivas. Total 4 Ultimate Slams were scored in the entire event. In final Riyaz Akbarali scored a White Slam as well but unable to match the performance of Srinivas in the Final.
In women section Naga Jothi proved that slow and study wins the race. Consistency was the strength of Naga Jothi and she proved in the finals the importance of being consistent. 2 Times World Champion Rashmi started brilliantly and initially looked like an easy victory for her till half way. Rashmi had 8 points lead i.e. Rashmi’s net points were 16 against Naga Jothi’s 24. In fifth board Naga Jothi scored a white slam and reduced her net points to 21 whereas Rashmi moved to 19 still having the lead of 2 points. In 6th board
Naga Jothi was at 25 and Rashmi was at 24 still leading with 1 point hereafter while Rashmi lost her way in 7 th Board by conceding 7 points Naga Jothi conceded only 2 points to overtake Rashmi by 4 points 27 against 31. In 8th board Rashmi completely lost her way and conceded 8 points but Naga Jothi conceded only 5 and won the Challenge against her own Idol Rashmi Kumari.
