Intern doctors are yet to get revised stipends in Maharashtra, Nagpur doctors worst paid in State
Nagpur: Four months have passed since Nagpur Today had highlighted the issue of wide discrepancy in the stipends received by the intern doctors in Maharashtra. While medical interns in Mumbai, Pune paymasters in Covid duty, interns doctors are worst paid in Second Capital of the State.
This was followed by promises of revised stipends and recently, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar had also announced that these doctors will get additional incentives for their services during Covid-19 peak. But intern doctors in Government Medical Colleges are yet to get their revised stipends.
As a result now the interns have decided to resort to a no-cooperation agitation from January 18.

While Mumbai and Pune pay Rs 59,000 and 30,000 per month respectively, the intern doctors working in Covid wards in Nagpur are being given just a meagre amount of Rs 11,000 per month. Though residents doctors had submitted memorandums to Guardian Minister and District Collector, and trended with #IncentivesForInterns on social media platforms in the past, all efforts to bring them at par in pay proved futile as they have only received hollow promises in return.
